Skateboard Project: Russian Constructivism + Gentle
This project presented itself to be quite a challenge, but was by far one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve done as well. Before I started on this project, my class we instructed to draw two slips of paper from a hat: one adjective and a movement from Art History.
I drew the words “gentle” and “Russian Constructivism”. If you have familiarity with Russian Constructivism, you know that these two words are polar opposites. Taking the iconography of classic Russian Constructivist style with hand gestures and using colors to soften the harshness that usually comes with this, I came up with this final outcome.
